Fake Christians

Set aside ten minutes and read -- really read -- this CNN article.

Now, what do you think? I would love to hear some feedback on this one. Make a comment below (preferably, so others can see your thoughts) or email me.

  1. I did read the CNN article. Twice. It is difficult to accept the fact that so many of us are living a cheap imitation. And passing this on to our kids. We treat Jesus like politics - don't talk about it in public but get out and vote.

Many parents do an outstanding job with their families, others have caved into our society which teaches that Christianity must take a back seat to the secular. The blame must be shared with schools, churches, and youth groups.

Our churches must take a leadership role in this problem. Children need true role models (in addition to their parents), people ready to live for Jesus 24-7 regardless of the cost.

  2. Bruce,

Well said. I think, too, that it's easy to underestimate the impact one person -- that "role model" -- who is totally sold out for Jesus can have. In some of his final writings, Dietrich Bonhoeffer commented on the importance of actual human examples, and said this is near the very heart of Christianity. I'll have to hunt down the actual quote. But it is individuals living for Jesus that transform schools, churches, and families. (So thanks for the work you do, especially today with classes starting up! You have a big impact! It was a joy yesterday to drive past your church and be able to tell my daughter, "That's where your assistant principal worships.")
